چکیده

The present investigation was directed to determine the pathogenicity; bioefficacy and larvicidal activity of Bacillus sphaericus M3 against Anopheline and Culicine mosquitoes. B. sphaericus M3 showed high pathogenicity of 85.0% and 98.8% to Anopheline larvae, using vegetative cells or spores, respectively. In contrast, pathogenicity toward Culicine larvae was 45.0% and 48.8% for vegetative cells and spores, respectively. Bacillus sphaericus M3 possesses high larvicidal activity with LC50 values 6.11 x 10 , 1.71 x 10 spores/ ml or 0.872, 24.4 mg/l against Anopheline & Culicine respectively. Efficacy and field evaluation of Bacillus thuringiensis (H-14) and B. sphaericus against floodwater mosquitoes in California.

The microbial control agents Bacillus thuringiensis (H-14) and B. sphaericus were evaluated in laboratory and field against Psorophora columbiae. Bacillus sphaericus strain 2362 was also tested in the field against Aedes melanimon. Psorophora columbiae was slightly more susceptible than Culex quinquefasciatus to active strains of B. sphaericus. The LC90 for active strains ranged from 0.013 to 0...

Cytolytic toxin Cyt1Aa of Bacillus thuringiensis synergizes the mosquitocidal toxin Mtx1 of Bacillus sphaericus.

Using the shuttle vector pBU4, the mosquitocidal toxin gene mtx1 from Bacillus sphaericus strain SSII-1 was introduced into an acrystalliferous strain of B. thuringiensis both individually and in combination with the accessory protein gene p20 and the cytolytic protein gene cyt1Aa from B. thuringiensis subsp. israelensis. Bioassay results indicated that the recombinants B-pMT4(Mtx1) and B-pMT9(...

Laboratory evaluation of selected larvicides and insect growth regulators against field-collected Culex quinquefasciatus larvae from urban Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Five organophosphates (OPs) (chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifos methyl, fenthion, malathion, and temephos), 3 pyrethroids (bifenthrin, cypermethrin, and permethrin), 1 phenyl pyrazole (fipronil), 2 microbial pesticides (Bacillus thuringiensis serovar. israelensis [B.t.i.] and Bacillus sphaericus), and 3 insect growth regulators (IGRs) (diflubenzuron, methoprene, and pyriproxyfen) were evaluated against...

Field trials with Bacillus sphaericus formulations against polluted water mosquitoes in a suburban area of Bangkok, Thailand.

Two newly developed Bacillus sphaericus larvicidal formulations, VectoLex CG (corncob granules) and VectoLex WDG (water dispersible granules), were tested against Culex quinquefasciatus larvae in 4 highly polluted breeding sites in Thailand. VectoLex CG, applied at rates of 0.5-2 g/m2, gave satisfactory to complete control of late-instar larvae and pupae for up to 4 wk after treatment. The Vect...

Isolation of Bacillus sphaericus from Lombok Island, Indonesia, and Their Toxicity against Anopheles aconitus

Malaria is endemic to Lombok Island, Indonesia. One approach to suppress malaria spread is to eliminate anopheline larvae in their habitat and the environmentally safe agent is bacteria, that is, Bacillus sphaericus. However, there is no information regarding local isolate of B. sphaericus that is toxic to mosquito larvae from Lombok. The aims of the study were to isolate B. sphaericus from soi...
